Hi all, Hope you are all having a good weekend, I've just sat down to watch the Scotland v Ireland match and wanted to write a quick post. Weight Loss and Cardio! I have seen a few people running on the treadmill in excess of 40 minutes recently. Don't get me wrong, if you are training for endurance thats fine (even though outdoor running would be better) however, doing in excess of 40 minutes is far too much to do in one go. I have proof of this, just check this out below. Bless him! I would aim for the magic 20 minutes. I wont bore you with the reasons, you'll have to trust me. 20 minutes of Cardio will burn plenty of calories and get you one step closer to that goal. Doing 2 separate 20 minute cardio sessions is even better ( I know, gosh this is really in depth stuff). Research proves that two 20-minute workouts will burn more fat and calories than one 40 minute workout. Doing a second workout during the day (even a short one) keeps growth hormone levels high throughout the day. This will give you even more body fat burning potential. So, here is how I would do a normal session. 20 minutes steady state running, then into the resistance/core session and finish off with a 20 minute interval session consisting of, Run as fast as possible, 1 minute Walking/light jog, 1.5 minutes Do this rotation for 20 minutes JOB DONE! Let me know how this works for you Stay motivated! |
